BIO FOR DAN WILLIAMS

Daniel Williams, pastor, veteran, and Fort Smith mayoral candidate

MAKE FORT SMITH BETTER VOTE DANIEL WILLIAMS

FORT SMITH, AR –  I am proud to formally announce my candidacy for Mayor of Fort Smith. My life has been defined by a simple principle: if you see a problem, you don’t wait for someone else to fix it—you roll up your sleeves and you get to work.

I am running for Mayor because I believe Fort Smith deserves a leader who understands both the boardroom and the factory floor—a leader who knows how to build efficient systems and how to care for the families who call this city home.

My journey began on a 40-acre farm in Hatton, Arkansas. Growing up managing poultry houses and working the land, I learned early on that success is grown through consistency and hard work. At Wickes High School, I carried those values onto the basketball court as starting point guard, leading our team to a Regional Championship and a State tournament appearance. I learned then that a leader is only as good as the team he serves.

At 17, I traded my high school summer for army boots, enlisting in the Army National Guard. I served eight years as an 11 Charlie (Mortarman), a role that demanded absolute technical precision and a "mission-first" mentality. That military discipline became the foundation of my professional life. In the years that followed, I moved to Texarkana and entered the industrial workforce. I spent years in the heat of the Alcoa aluminum factory, eventually serving as an Operations Supervisor where I managed 12-hour shifts and developed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that kept our operations safe and efficient. My time at Cooper Tire & Rubber and Wingfoot Commercial Tire further deepened my respect for the hardworking men and women who are the backbone of our local economy. I believe in lifelong growth. That is why, while working and serving, I earned my Associate of Arts from Rich Mountain Community College and my Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. I didn’t just want to manage processes; I wanted to understand how to develop the potential of every person I lead.

For the last 24 years, I have answered a higher calling in ministry. Since 2008, it has been my greatest honor to lead Midland Heights Church in North Fort Smith. My ministry has never stayed behind a pulpit. For 18 years, we have hosted a weekly Saturday meal for our community. For the last nine years, I have met with 20 to 40 citizens every Monday through Saturday at 7:30 AM to mentor them in character, identity, and service. Beyond the church walls, my wife and I have walked in the trenches of the addiction crisis, owning and operating eight recovery homes to help Arkansans from all walks of life reclaim their futures.

At the heart of everything I do is my family. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, Amy, who serves our community every day through her work in the Fort Smith School System. Together, we have raised four children and are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.

My commitment to this city is personal; I want to build a Fort Smith that offers safety, opportunity, and a bright future for my grandkids and yours. I am not a career politician; I am a husband, a veteran, a father, and a neighbor. I am ready to bring the discipline of the military, the efficiency of industrial management, and the heart of a servant to the Mayor’s office. Together, let’s build a Fort Smith that works for everyone.
